There were special equipment operating on the site: front-end loaders, pumping and vacuum machines, dumping trucks, etc.
According to the exercise background info, an electric dehydrator designed for oil dehydration and desalination, got depressurized. Thus, leading to the oil spill and a fire. Sergey Nikulin, an AT-6 operator on duty that day, notified about the emergency over the speakerphone.
All the participants of the exercise professionally worked out as per emergency plan: firefighters arrived within 3 minutes and supplied fire-extinguishing agents; rescuers carried out the only injured and liquidated the conditional leak of the product. The successful script was “played out” in less than an hour.
Ilsky Refinery hosts such large-scale exercises on a regular basis thereby enabling readiness of all units, external rescue teams, maintenance department, security services, and operating and dispatching personnel for emergency situations.
